About Lauren MacDougal
My name is Lauren MacDougal, and I am in my senior year at UW-Madison. I am pursuing my degree in Communication Arts - Film, Television & Radio, and I also have minors studying Digital Studies, Disability Rights & Services, and Gender & Women’s Studies. I spent the last two years working as a Peer Academic Advisor for Cross College Advising Services. Currently, I am working as a Marketing and Media Assistant for The Independent Publishing Magazine. I am originally from the Twin Cities in Minnesota, where I will be returning following my graduation in May of 2025.
My driving force inside and out of academic/professional settings is my passion and appreciation for human connection. Whether that be through thoughtful discussions about identities and social justice in the classroom, or in assisting students to follow their passions and achieve academic goals, working with people has always been my greatest strength. When it comes to the career I will pursue post-grad, my only hope is that I will be presented with opportunities to serve others.
During my time here at UW-Madison, I have made the Dean’s List for all six semesters. I have also been an active member of the Optima Dance Club, which I have taught and choreographed for numerous times over the years. I have also been able to participate in the UW Choirs, which along with dance has supported my need for various creative outlets. Although UW-Madison has offered me incredible opportunities I may have never pursued anywhere else, I look forward to watching my worldview expand even further following the completion of my undergraduate education.
